Our Story
Built on Family, Driven by Craftsmanship
Roberts Excavation Services was founded in 2003 by DJ Roberts, a craftsman who believed excavation work should be done right the first time. What started as a one-man operation in Sterling, CT has grown into a full-service excavation company serving Plainfield and Windham County.
Today, DJ works alongside his son Trevor Roberts, carrying forward the same commitment to quality, honesty, and craftsmanship that built the company. Together, they lead a team of 35+ professionals who take genuine pride in their work — from foundation excavation and site preparation to drainage solutions, septic installation, and commercial site work.
We've completed over 500 projects since 2003. Every one of them was built the same way: show up on time, do the work right, charge what we quoted, and stand behind it after the trucks leave.

Founded Roberts Excavation Services in 2003. 20+ years of excavation and site-work experience across Eastern Connecticut. Hands-on operator who still runs equipment on most large projects.
Second Generation
Trevor Roberts
Joined the family business to expand services and lead the next generation of Roberts Excavation. Manages day-to-day operations, scheduling, and client relationships.
